H3HELPLINE is here for you. We help anyone who needs support after an abortion. We care about your recovery, let us help.

The holiday season is in full swing, with many looking forward to family gatherings, festive food, and catching up with your loved ones.  While the holidays are a source of joy for many, it can be difficult for others to share the same enthusiasm. At H3Helpline, we know that for many women and men who have experienced the pain of abortion, the holidays can be a difficult season to navigate.  We share our tips on how to make the most of this holiday season and the time with your loved ones. For additional resources and support, call or text H3Helpline at 866-721-7881.

Asking for Support

The most important thing you can do during the holidays is to make sure you have the resources to support you during this time.  It can be difficult to open up to your family about what you’re going through, especially if you haven’t told your family about your experience with abortion yet.  In these cases, it may be beneficial to ask a close friend that you’ve confided in to come with you to the holiday events to provide emotional and physical support.  If you don’t have anyone in your life that you feel you can ask or talk to, know that H3Helpline is available 24/7 to process your thoughts and feelings with you.

Joy in the Midst of Sorrow

Even with the most positive mindsets, we know it’s all too easy for sorrow or negative thoughts and emotions to cast a cloud over our day.  However, it’s important to know that these emotions and thoughts are completely natural and quite common after experiencing an abortion. In many cases, they are symptoms of post-abortion syndrome, or PAS.  You can learn more about PAS and how it presents here, but know that healing is possible and available to you.  Give H3Helpline a call today to get connected with local resources and start your healing journey.

Taking Care of Yourself

Above all else, make sure that you’re not overextending yourself. Holidays can be a hectic time, and if you need to take a break throughout the activities, or not even attend at all and schedule a smaller family get together, do it! It’s easy to feel pressured to attend, but only you know your limits and you need to do what’s best for you. You may also consider planning a fun or relaxing activity after the holidays to unwind and have something to look forward to.  Remember to always make sure you’re looking after yourself and taking care of your health.
